Elephants facing extinction
Elephants. Elephants are the largest of all land beasts with a whopping 100,000 muscles. Unfortunately, they are nearly extinct due to their long sharp tusks which are made out of ivory. Ivory is a hard white material from tusks (mostly from elephants) and animal teeth. It is estimated over 20,000 elephants were killed for ivory last year and it has been said that most of the killing has been from china.
China & Ivory
In 2007 a survey was carried out by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and they found out that 70% of the Chinese didn’t know that ivory came from dead elephants. China is set to announce a ban on all ivory trade by the end of 2017. It is also said to be good luck.
Prince William is very passionate about stopping poaching and is doing everything in his power to stop it. He has made wildlife crime his own personal cause to stop and said it is time to send an “unambiguous message”. He said that it is now no longer acceptable to buy or trade ivory and rhino horn.
